Introducing an exclusive collaboration made by Melbourne cult-jeweller, Heart of Bone, for Harrolds Woman in Sydney.

Harrolds’ womenswear buyer, Kathleen Buscema, worked alongside Heart of Bone founder, Emma Abrahams, to develop a collection inspired by contemporary symbols of love and tattoos intertwined with the refined edge of the Harrolds clientele. The key items from the collection include an intricate rose and skull cuff, an intricate ring featuring a hand carrying a diamond bangle holding a rose and a statement knuckle duster highlighting a heart with wings and ‘love’ enscribed.

The 13-piece collection is available in sterling silver and hard 18 karat gold-plated brass.

we interview emma abrahams ahead of the launch of the collection to give us some insight into the collaboration and heart of bone.

HARROLDS: CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT THE CONCEPT AND INSPIRATION BEHIND THE COLLABORATION 'TRUE LOVE'

EMMA: The concept of the collab focuses on the modern symbols of love and romance from tattoo and pop culture. Hearts, scrolls, daggers, charms, lightning bolts etc WITH signet rings and charms that are hand engraved. The collection is based on the idea that jewelry collecting should be a personal and individual experience. That it's something that makes you stand out from the crowd and it's something to cherish and hand down to future generations.

HARROLDS: WHAT MAKES THIS COLLECTION BESPOKE AND LUXURIOUS? HOW WERE THE PIECES MADE?

EMMA: THE TRUE LOVE HARROLDS X HEART OF BONE COLLABORATION BEGAN AS A CONVERSATION WITH ROSS POULAKIS AND MYSELF OVER DINNER AT AN EVENT ONE EVENING WHEN WE DISCUSSED WHAT THE NEW DEFINITION OF LUXURY WAS AND HOW THE NATURE OF LUXURY HAS SHIFTED SO MUCH TO A DESIRE FOR BESPOKE PRODUCTS NOT MASS PRODUCED BUT PERSONALIZED AND HANDMADE. MORE OF A PERSONAL AND COUTURE STYLE OF PURCHASING. SO FROM THERE WE CAME UP WITH A CONCEPT THAT WE CRAFTED FROM SCRATCH IN WAX AND SKETCHES AND THAT ENCAPSULATED THAT FEELING AND QUALITY. IT'S SOMETHING THAT THE HARROLDS TEAM AND I WORKED ON CLOSELY TOGETHER AND WE ARE HUGELY PROUD OF AND IT'S MY BEST COLLECTION TO DATE.

HARROLDS: WHERE DID YOU WORK ON CRAFTING THESE PIECES?

EMMA: THE PIECES ARE ALL HAND CRAFTED IN THE HEART OF BONE STUDIO USING TRADITIONAL JEWELRY MAKING TECHNIQUES. EVERY PIECE IS HAND CARVED IN WAX AND CAST AND HAND FINISHED IN OUR MELBOURNE STUDIO AND EACH PIECE IS UNIQUE.

HARROLDS: With a celebrity following in both the fashion and music industries who have been your favourite clients to accessorise?

EMMA: Definitely having Karl Lagerfeld wearing Heart of Bone is an incredible honor for me. Working with Daphne Guinness, Jean Paul Gaultier, Slash and Marc Jacobs were all incredible experiences of course too.

HARROLDS: What are you working on next?

EMMA: I'm currently working with LA based celebrity stylist/ publicist B.Akerlund at the resIDENCY on launching Heart of Bone internationally. Our first Heart of Bone showing is October 24-25  in her LA showroom AND includes Heart of Bone fine jewelry, so I'm super excited about that and the projects we have planned for next year.
