Born in Belgium in 1968, Raf Simons was originally a furniture designer. Encouraged by Linda Loppa, the head of the Fashion Department of the Antwerp Royal Academy, Simons became a self-trained menswear designer in 1995 with the launch of his eponymous label.
In 2005 Raf Simons began a storied career in prestige fashion houses when he became the Creative Designer of Jil Sander before joining Dior in 2012.
A fierce proponent of individuality Simons’ aesthetic fuses the energetic rebellion of sub cultures with radically differing portrayals of masculinity. The signature sharpness of Raf Simons’ tailoring remains at the core of his designs and is masterfully used in combination with a never ending quest for sartorial innovation.
Raf Simons’ collections shape the story of the contemporary men’s fashion through modern proportions and the interplay of textures underpinned by a bold celebration of pure construction.
