This season, we’re pleased to share our curated millinery capsule collection, featuring one-of-a-kind pieces made exclusively for Harrolds for the 2019 Spring Racing Carnival. Working closely with local and international milliners, the collection has been designed with the modern Harrolds woman in mind; a woman who views fashion as an art form and a means to express the most intimate parts of her personality.

The collection features renowned British milliner Stephen Jones, Australian milliner and international millinery tutor Carole Maher, Parisian hat designer Maison Michel and Sydney’s very own Viktoria Novak. Each milliner has incorporated their distinct design aesthetic with innovative technique to meticulously construct each piece to the point of perfection.

Shop the curated collection exclusively at the Harrolds Melbourne flagship store now.

Arguably one of the world’s most well-known milliners, Stephen Jones has been constructing avant-garde headwear for over 30 years. Born in England, Jones first cut his teeth on the fashion industry in the late seventies, parading hats of his own idiosyncratic design at the iconic Blitz Nightclub. He then went on to design hats for the royals and London’s burgeoning club-kid scene, including Boy George, Isabella Blow and Diana, Princess of Wales.

Australian milliner Carole Maher has been challenging how society views millinery for over a decade, leaving a career in advertising to pursue creative aspirations. Over the span of ten years, Maher is credited to revolutionising the industry, leading research, developing high-tech materials and introducing thermo-formable materials since 2007. In addition to innovation, Maher is passionate about education and regularly teaches masterclasses throughout London, New York, Canada and Australia.

Since 1936, Maison Michel has imagined hats that are anything but an accessory. A reflection of its period, a dialogue with trends, a product that evolves as rapidly as the head it will dress. As a part of Chanel’s Métiers d'Art, Maison Michel collaborates with a selection of prestigious brands. Since 2006, it also offers its own eponymous label, characterised by the most cutting-edge creative approach.

Australian milliner Viktoria Novak is the epitome of racing royalty. Often referred to as the “Queen of Crowns,” her collections have gained a cult following and are regularly sought out by celebrities, brides and racegoers alike. With a strong background in fashion, interior and millinery design, Novak launched her eponymous label in 2006, combining her flair for conceptual design with meticulous technique.
