ALEXANDER MCQUEEN AW14 PRE-COLLECTION

Harrolds welcomes the signature murky romanticism of Alexander McQueen into store for the first drop of Autumn Winter 2014 pre-collection. Dark, monochromatic and provocatively tailored, Alexander McQueen’s latest collection drips the decadence of finest materials and finishings adorning the must-have pieces of the season with bombers in Pony hair and skull-emblazoned sumptuous cable knits combined with exquisite small leather accessories.

Deeply intwined within the roots of the collection, central to the fabric of the perfectly executed season staples sits a resilient vein of the haute gothic aesthetic of the brand’s origins. Every pitch-black recess of the collection is endowed with the ghoulish, referential presence of the label’s founder, a collection as steeped in homage as it is in romanticism and emotion. Central to this season is a starkness of colour, an unabashed creepy palette of simplistic single tones offset with splashes of vivid skull prints on tees and scarves.

The shadowy decadence of the house of McQueen once again triumphs with an original reworking of current season essentials through the filter of the brand’s iconic heritage. Construction takes precedence for Autumn/Winter 14 with short tailoring in full effect creating impeccable silhouettes adorned with the fingerprints of the bygone-era of McQueen’s origins.
